In calculus, trigonometric functions come up often and in a variety of contexts. Here are the derivatives of the six basic trigonometric functions:

  d/dxcos x = - sin x

  d/dxtan x = sec² x

• d/dxcsc x = -csc x cot x

  d/dxsec x = sec x tan x
